Jody's Legacy

Joell ‘Jody’ Justus lost his fight with Alcoholic Liver Cirrhosis on April 26, 2024. He left behind a loving family and a network of friends determined to make sure Jody’s life is remembered and his loss leads to something positive by saving the lives of others.

Jody’s relationship with alcohol evolved post-COVID and developed into an addiction that would eventually take his life.

He had symptoms of liver failure that he assumed were other common ailments, like allergies or circulation issues, but they were actually clues that his liver was being irreversibly                        damaged by Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD).

Jody ignored the signs and the advice of doctors regarding his liver function.  Both Jody and his family, assumed that any issues could be resolved with medical care, and he would make a decision to seek treatment for his AUD eventually. Tragically, he did not have that chance.

Jody was a light in our lives! He was a beloved son, husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. We miss him every minute!
Please join us in sharing Jody’s legacy of kindness, compassion, and generosity, by supporting the ACE4Life mission to spread the word about Alcoholic Liver Cirrhosis and improve lives through educating about liver health and the impact AUD can have on individuals and their loved ones.
